Cogent Thinking brought together a small group of senior leaders for our inaugural Health and Safety Forum, a lunch discussion designed to share practical insights on improving workforce wellbeing. The forum provided an opportunity for leaders across sectors to connect, learn from each other, and reflect on what meaningful, sustainable safety looks like in practice.
Held over a shared meal in Melbourne, the session featured guest speakers including:
- Dr Peter Prasad, Head of Workplace Health and Safety at Qantas
- Dr Mary Wyatt, Occupational Physician and It Pays to Care advocate
- Tim Morphy, CEO, MedHealth
Together, the group explored themes central to modern workforce wellbeing, including:
- The role of leadership in shaping safety culture
- Supporting psychological health in high-pressure and high-risk environments
- Why early intervention matters and how to make it workable
- How organisations can design systems that care for people, not just compliance
The conversation reinforced a shared commitment across industries: when organisations invest in caring for their people, it benefits everyone – workers, teams, and the broader community.
Our thanks to the speakers and attendees who generously shared their experience, challenges, and ideas. We look forward to continuing these discussions and supporting organisations to build workplaces where people feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.
